When we first moved in, I had rug shopping to do for several rooms. I created mood boards for each space, but I was indecisive for months since a rug is often the focal point of a room and sometimes pictures don’t quite translate in real life. Plus, repackaging and returning large rugs is very annoying in my opinion, so I wanted to make sure to get it right the first time?
The two rooms I was shopping for (living room and bedroom) are high-trafficked areas, so the most important factors to me were durability and easy to clean. I was also looking for neutral-colored, cozy and inviting, and of course affordable since I was purchasing large sizes (~8×10), and I know big rugs can get pricy.
Below are some of my top choices from my search — all great options for those who love “farmhouse style” like me.

1 // 2 // 3 // 4 // 5 // 6 // 7 // 8
Note: While Jute and sisal rugs are very characteristic of farmhouse style, I will admit they are not the best for high- trafficked living areas or if you have pets. They tend to get very dusty and are hard to clean (I know from experience since I purchased one at our first apartment, and I was constantly vacuuming/dusting.) I still provided some jute options (#2 and #7) because they’re beautiful and great for layering, but the other options are definitely more practical.
Living Room Rug (#3) Bedroom Rug (#1)
The two I ended up purchasing were #3 (living room) and #1 (bedroom) , pictured above, and I’m so happy with the way they both look in our spaces. I hope this guide helped save you some time and provided some inspo while rug shopping for your home.
Happy Shopping!
